CHARLIE COOK'S FAVOURITE BOOK
A SUMMER SCHOOL PRODUCTION IN ASSOCIATION WITH 'UNPACKED' FESTIVAL 2016
Directed by Polly Agg-Manning and Lucy Hirst
In late July 2016, a young company of 12 aspiring actors spent six days devising an adaptation of Julia Donaldson's Charlie Cook's Favourite Book as part of a brand new family theatre festival, 'Unpacked.'
30TH JUL - 4TH AUG 2016
Performed at the Bikeshed Theatre in Exeter to a full house, the young company transformed simple every day objects into magical storytelling devices and successfully transported their audience from the depths of the ocean to the realms of outer space.
Delivered in partnership with independent arts education specialist and professional director Polly Agg-Manning, the Summer school company received training in physical theatre, mime, stage pictures, and puppetry. The project created paid opportunities for three production team members and a young work experience student.
The final performance was a product of a collaborative process between the company, the directors and the creative team.
"I got to contribute ideas to the performance and to the characters as the whole crew was so lovely and willing to hear anything and everything we had to say." - Summer School Participant, (14)
